The downward trend in new SARS-CoV-2 infections continues. Approximately the same should remain in the utilization of intensive care units. Conditions are also declining, according to effluent monitoring and official testing figures.
In its Wednesday update, the forecasting consortium predicts a further decline in the number of infected people in regular wards – from 777 on Wednesday to 659 in two weeks (range of variation from 515 to 843 occupied beds).
In Austria, 2377 laboratory-confirmed new coronavirus infections were registered Tuesday. According to AGES, an average of 1885 infections were detected daily last week. As of Wednesday morning, 835 infected persons were in the hospital, which means a minus of 25 compared to the previous day. Of these, 58 are in intensive care, up six from Tuesday.
As of Tuesday, 13 Corona-related deaths have been reported. However, there are always time delays in the reports. In the past week, 53 people have died after being infected with Corona.
In total, the pandemic has claimed 21,589 lives in Austria so far. There are 23,610 laboratory-confirmed active cases, up 1098 from the previous day. The seven-day incidence in Austria is just 146.2 infections per 100,000 inhabitants, up from 153.5 the day before.
